Lesson
Read the lesson
Imagine, Create, Empower: Joseph Generation Adventureland embodies imagination, creativity, and empowerment — an exciting, enriching experience that helps children discover and express their unique gifts. Below are biblical principles for ministry to, with, and by children.
Love and Value Children
Embrace the biblical view of children as important members of the Kingdom of God. Recognize their worth, potential, and unique contributions.
¹⁴ But Jesus said, Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven. ¹⁵ And he laid his hands on them, and departed thence.
Pray for Children
Pray for their protection, guidance, and salvation. Seek God's wisdom in ministering to their specific needs.
³ Lo, children are an heritage of the LORD: and the fruit of the womb is his reward.
¹³ For thou hast possessed my reins: thou hast covered me in my mother's womb. ¹⁴ I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well.
¹⁶ Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.
Teach and Mentor
Share knowledge of the Bible with children. Teach them about God's love, grace, and truth. Serve as a mentor as they navigate their faith.
⁶ And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart: ⁷ And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.
Demonstrate Christ-like Character
Model love, kindness, patience, forgiveness, and humility in all interactions with children.
²² But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, ²³ Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.
³² And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you.
Create Safe and Nurturing Environments
Ensure ministry environments are safe, inclusive, and conducive to spiritual growth.
⁴ He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler.
Listen and Engage
Value children's opinions and engage meaningfully. Encourage their questions and help them apply biblical truth.
¹⁹ Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath.
Encourage Worship and Prayer
Foster an atmosphere where children freely express worship and prayer.
⁶ O come, let us worship and bow down: let us kneel before the LORD our maker.
Equip and Empower
Identify and nurture the gifts and talents of children; equip them to serve effectively.
¹⁴ Neglect not the gift that is in thee, which was given thee by prophecy, with the laying on of the hands of the presbytery. ¹⁵ Meditate upon these things; give thyself wholly to them; that thy profiting may appear to all.
Partner with Parents and Families
Support and partner with parents — providing resources, training, and opportunities for spiritual growth within the family unit.
⁴ And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.
Promote Intergenerational Connections
Encourage meaningful interactions between children, adults, and seniors within the church community.
³ The aged women likewise, that they be in behaviour as becometh holiness, not false accusers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things; ⁴ That they may teach the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children, ⁵ To be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed.
